I remember wishing I could fly,
Admiring the starlit sky,
Making the swing go too high,
When best friends lived nearby,
Going on long hikes,
Riding our bikes,
Even gray
Snow day
Play.

Yes, I remember those days.

Back then all I could think about was growing up. Now that I have, I often wish I could recapture the good old days. Funny how that works. 🙂

I remember so immersed in the delicious moment of wind on my face and hair unfurled by the breezes I closed my eyes while riding my bike and crashed into the back of a freshly painted parked car. Asked by the owner if I was alright I got up covered in blue and wobbled my way back home.

Oh no! That’s one way to ruin the freedom of the wind against your skin! How long did it take for the blue paint to come off?

After I got home on wobbly legs my dad scrubbed me down with turpinetine. Stinky but effective. lol.

What a childhood memory! I’m sure it was no where near funny when it happened but I had to chuckle a little at getting scrubbed down with turpentine. 😉

I love similar memories too…except for the snow….where I live in Australia, we never see snow!

We get plenty enough here in the northern U.S. for me to share! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment!

I wanted to fly too…all the way to the moon, on to Mars and beyond…be an astronaut. But as I grew older, I found out the training one needed, and since I was lazy, my mind turned inward. I began to write. Your poem took me back to my stargazing days. Thanks. 🙂

Absolutely my pleasure! Writing is an excellent alternative! It allows you to create with words what you would have wanted to see if you could fly. Thanks for the visit!

Me too! It was just yesterday, yet a lifetime ago. How much I miss it – time and technology has stolen it and hid it away. Thank you for bringing back those memories. ❤ Kimberly

You are so right. My son thinks he’s so fortunate to have his computers, hand held games, and pricey counsels. I think he’s missing out on some much cooler stuff, like building a fort in the woods and pretending it’s his castle. 😉
