You Left Me

You left me to endure alone,
The only love I’d ever known.
You enticed me, pulled me astray,
Tore out my soul, left it to fray.
I am withering on my own.

There is no fire and no brimstone.
There’s just a world of monotone.
Void of color, my skies are gray.
…You left me…

Adrift within the great unknown,
My senses deadened to the bone.
You are a thief; I was your prey.
You stole my heart and went away,
A bandit with a core of stone.
…You left me…

  1. You just so poetically described my post today – but mine, with the same exact meaning and story behind yours, was filled with far more chaos and lacking the beauty that yours possess. I think I wrote during a brief moment of anger and chaos. Not the best time to write. 🙂 (((((hugs))))). ❤ Kimberly

    1. I think there’s a great deal of beauty in chaos. My writing is usually very controlled & deliberate. I lose my voice when anger & chaos are in control. The times I do manage to write in that mindset, it is absolutely cathartic. I’d like to do it more. Kudos to you for taking an inopportune moment and creating art from it. xoxo

    1. You may just be on to something. It took me a couple of days but I was finally able to put a tune to the words. Now I just need my husband to make it better & add some guitar. 🙂

    1. My brother! I was doing some tag & category cleanup and I noticed that I had not commented on your reblog! I don’t know how that happened. I am deeply sorry for the oversight. I always appreciate your shares. You bring new and interesting readers each time you do so. Thank you for making this my new #1 post!

    1. Thank you, Vashti! I think we’ve all had that person in our lives that we thought would be there forever. When they walk away, everything just fades to gray. Fortunately, life marches on, and the color returns one day. 🙂
