Never Forget

No one blinked. No one
Exhaled. We stood motionless
Viewing the aftermath coverage of flight
Eleven’s impact on 1 WTC. The eerie
Reticence was fleeting. We watched
Flight one-seventy-five strike 2 WTC in dismay.
Our collective gasps and audible screams
Ripped into the office silence. The
Grim crisis had only just begun. I realized
Evil had breached our walls. It was then, for the first
Time in my life, that I came to know true fear.

I will never forget how that felt.
I will never forget the events of that day.
I will never forget the rescuers’ fearless response.
I will never forget the heroes that defend our land.
I WILL NEVER FORGET.

  1. I’m right there beside you Carrie. I was there, my building 2 tiny blocks away evacuated after the first tower was hit – standing in the street staring up at the sky watching the second tower get hit. I was one of the last 10 cards allowed off the Island on the last bridge or tunnel still open. Fear and Loss everywhere, family, friends, neighbors, strangers we didn’t know, but “knew” … it was everywhere, and will forever be everywhere. I have a very difficult time, every single year, for the past 11 September’s that I’ve been in FL – not being in NY on this day. This was a beautiful tribute. Thank you. ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Your story absolutely took my breath away. I cannot imagine the things you saw, maybe even worse, the sounds you heard. THIS is why I decided to be a writer. So I can share my stories and in return, others share theirs with me. I can’t imagine a more fulfilling way to spend my time. Thank you for sharing this. I’ll be thinking of you each September 11. ❤

      1. What an amazing response, thank you Carrie. ❤ While I don't consider myself a writer per se' – I do write and I do love this type of forum sharing stories with so many – I agree, it's very fulfilling. I love that you'll be thinking of me each September 11th – and accept humbly – but if you might do me a favor – multiply my story by thousands upon thousands, some SO MUCH worse and think of them all. ❤ ❤ Much love to you sweetheart.
