The Ice Queen Awakens

The Ice Queen awakens from slumber deep
Irked that Mother Nature stirred her from sleep.
Promptly she devises a wily plot
To silence everything within earshot.
With a frosty yawn, cold begins to seep;

Seeking warm haven, the birds cease to cheep.
She then sets her sights on the trees to threap.
With a polar hand, she gives them a swat.
The Ice Queen awakens…

Dead, leaves plunge from branches into a heap.
With a jeer she says, “You get what you reap.”
Joyous echos fade off ’til she hears naught.
She’s attained quiescence with this onslaught.
She savors the hush in her glacial keep.
The Ice Queen awakens…

Return to Home

Snowfall Sunrise

The daylight removes nightfall’s veil
Exposing nature’s new detail.
As beams ascend into the skies
Darkness surrenders to sunrise.

Winter reveals a new landscape,
Rooftops brandishing their new cape.
As lifeless trees boast their disguise,
Darkness surrenders to sunrise.

In the valleys and the highlands
Snowflakes sparkle like they’re diamonds.
The world begins to crystallize.
Darkness surrenders to sunrise.

The daylight removes nightfall’s veil,
Darkness surrenders to sunrise.

Return to Home

Wandering

Lost on the road to oblivion,
Can’t see where I’m going,
Don’t know where I’ve been.
Stumbling through the fog blind,
Reluctant to reach out,
Scared of what I’ll find.
Paralyzed by my own fear,
By myself in the dark,
How’d I even get here?

Return to Home

Shadows

I lived life behind secure locks
Within the limits of my box.
Bored but content, out of harm’s way,
I was complacent in the dark
Until you came and lit the spark
That chased obscurity away.
You started a blaze so divine
It penetrates my confine,
And keeps murky shadows at bay.

Return to Home

Elfin Tree

Dwarfed by sprawling forestry,
Meager little elfin tree.

Eager to find the largest prize,
Crowds trampled over those her size.

When I found her laying in the snow,
She brought to my mind this girl I know.

Meek, different, but brimming with potential,
I set out to prove her consequential.

Confident in her new attire, she shone bright.
N’er had one stood taller igniting the night.
