Hushed is the seaside.
There is a chill in the air.
One last time I dig
My toes deep into the sand
As the sun sets on summer.
Hushed is the seaside.
There is a chill in the air.
One last time I dig
My toes deep into the sand
As the sun sets on summer.
I want to halt time
Remain your best friend always
Freeze your innocence
But even as you grow up
I’ll ever be your Mommy
Chasing a sunset
Along a glowing pathway,
Serenity sought
Where the earth touches the sky
And fire dances on water.

We embark on a family vacation tomorrow! Even the adult kids get to join us this time. Where we’re headed, writing is easy. The words just flow. I will put some work in on the book. I may even still blog. I’ll just be doing it from the beach instead of a leather recliner. It’s not work if you love what you do. If I don’t check in before Friday, Happy 4th of July!

I received an invitation on Facebook to participate today in a “Pay It Forward Day”. A woman arbitrarily picked a day and set the event. She invited her friends who in turn invited theirs until the number of individuals invited topped 28,000. It is clear that there are those out there willing to give a piece of themselves for the benefit of a complete stranger. It restores my faith in humanity. Typically I don’t need a designated day to randomly pay for someone’s coffee or give to someone in need. Nor would I ever mention it if I did pay for someone’s lunch in the drive-thru line. However, I am interested to see what difference this initiative can make when many people commit to making a difference all on the same day. Will it make a big enough splash so that the ripples continue all the way across the pond?

Today cast a stone
Not at your enemy but
Into the lake of
Humanity and kindness
And spawn ripples far-reaching
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You want me to be
someone, something I am not.
I can’t unravel
a thread from cloth when it is
inherent to the fabric.
