I received an invitation on Facebook to participate today in a “Pay It Forward Day”. A woman arbitrarily picked a day and set the event. She invited her friends who in turn invited theirs until the number of individuals invited topped 28,000. It is clear that there are those out there willing to give a piece of themselves for the benefit of a complete stranger. It restores my faith in humanity. Typically I don’t need a designated day to randomly pay for someone’s coffee or give to someone in need. Nor would I ever mention it if I did pay for someone’s lunch in the drive-thru line. However, I am interested to see what difference this initiative can make when many people commit to making a difference all on the same day. Will it make a big enough splash so that the ripples continue all the way across the pond?

Today cast a stone
Not at your enemy but
Into the lake of
Humanity and kindness
And spawn ripples far-reaching

I must’ve been feeling the magic Carrie because I just thought this morning that I wanted to pay for someone’s coffee today. Unbelievable!

What a cool coincidence! That’s what I’m talking about… it’s good to have a day to encourage people to pay it forward but it works best if it’s just something that people do on their own accord. 🙂

You are so right. Far too many people have gotten lost on their way to the lake of humanity and kindness. I wish it was easier for everyone to find. 😉

It was actually fun while out and about yesterday to come up with ways to make a difference in someone’s day. 🙂
