Zoo

We have reached the end of SFoxWriting‘s Alphabet Challenge, the letter “Z”. What a fun ride. My topic choice for the letter “Z”, from day one, was always going to be the zoo. I adore animals. The zoo in my hometown is pretty small. That doesn’t stop me from visiting multiple times per year. My husband and kids are big zoo fans too. We traveled from Michigan to San Diego over spring break a few years ago specifically to go to the San Diego Zoo. That was an incredible trip, except for the earthquake. Within 2 hours of arriving at our resort on a sunny Easter Sunday, we got rocked by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake. Fortunately the rest of the trip went off without a hitch.

Here are some of my favorite shots from the San Diego Zoo:

Finish Line

For the past 25 days I have been participating in an Alphabet Challenge. Tomorrow marks the end, the letter “Z”. I can’t wait to see where the next phase of this journey takes me. First and foremost, I would like to thank Steven Fox of SFoxWriting for issuing this challenge. My blog was so young when this began that more than half of my total posts are the result of the Alphabet Challenge.  Because of my participation, I’ve gained invaluable experience, my blog has evolved, and my relationships with other bloggers has grown. I even learned, when I received my first one yesterday, that there are blogging awards awarded by bloggers to bloggers. It is an amazing community I have found here.

As this chapter comes to a close and the next adventure begins, I would like to stop and say THANK YOU to the bloggers that I follow. I am a fan of each one and every one of you. I enjoy reading your posts. I learn from you. I am a better writer because of you. For my readers and followers, there are no words to express my appreciation for you. How humbling it is to know that there are people out there who actually want to read what you write. It is not lost on me that we live in a busy world. It is an honor every single time you take a few minutes for a visit.

So you have some idea what to expect going forward, I will be dedicating quite a bit more time to my book. I will still make time for blogging, of course, just maybe not every day. Excerpts from my book will most certainly be shared here. I’m excited to hear your thoughts, good or bad. I also have plans for a short story series. Those will be published here as well. I will continue to write poetry, and plan to host or feature other writers, artists, musicians, and photographers as well. I hope you enjoy the voyage!
